Trails + Nature Exploration

Getting outside doesn’t have to mean planning a big adventure. A trail, a river, a beach, a forest, a mountain, or even a patch of grass can become a place to slow down, notice what’s around you, and start asking questions.

Here you’ll find family-friendly places to explore in Central Oregon, along with simple ideas for noticing, wondering, and learning outdoors wherever you live.

Some explorations are connected to STEM. Others are simply about paying attention to the world around us. The goal isn’t to turn every outing into a lesson, it’s to make it easier to find the learning that’s already there.
